Description
  • From the village, follow the track opposite the Mill and next the headlands to, and then round, Fishpond Wood.  Follow the road eastwards through the small hamlet of Bentley and then take the farm track leading to the new Beverley bypass.
  • Follow the headland paths and various farm tracks as shown on the map to return to Skidby.
  • The views which you enjoy on the walk are interesting, if not spectacular.  To the north the impressive Beverley Minster can be seen and to the west, the towers of Bransholme and Orchard Park, two housing estates on the outskirts of Hull.  The cooling towers of Saltend can be seen in the far distance, whilst to the south the four sails of the mill show the way back to the start.
  • You will find this an enjoyable stroll in the countryside within easy reach of Hull.

Further Information
Features of Interest
-  Skidby is a pleasant little village best known for its magnificent windmill, which experts have said is one of the best examples of a working windmill in the country.  Besides the mill itself, there is an extensive collection of old milling and agricultural tools and some fine old agricultural machines.  Several of the old stables are being converted to feature country crafts of a bygone age and the whole complex is definitely worth a visit.
