Description
  • From the Leisure Centre walk forwards onto the Springfield Way pavement, turn right and walk towards the roundabout.  Use the crossing point to cross from Springfield Way onto Beverley Road.  Cross over from one side of Beverley Road to the other.  Next walk along the footpath running beside the church and leading into South Ella Way.
  • Walk past the shops and take the first road on the left leading onto Broadley Avenue.  Continue along this road, crossing over the Lawns and Barkworth Close to reach Woodlands Drive.
  • Turn right onto Woodlands Drive and walk on.  Do not follow Woodlands Drive as it veers off to the left.  Instead, walk on, cross the Lunds and follow the footpath to the right as it bends to reach Mill Lane.
  • Cross the road and take the first left into Easenby Avenue.  Walk on, crossing both Kerry Pit Way and Grundale.  At the top of the hill the road leads into Valley Drive.  This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the panoramic view over Kirk Ella, Willerby and elsewhere in the East Riding of Yorkshire.  Walk down Valley Drive.
  • NOTE: follow the next set of instructions to return to the Leisure Centre via a short cut.  Alternatively, follow the instructions under 'Lengthened Distance' to enjoy a longer walk back to the Centre.
  • Walk down Valley Drive, keeping to the left-hand side until you reach Westland Road on your right.  Cross over and follow Westland Road to its end.  Next turn right onto West Ella Road.
  • Follow the road down to the mini roundabout, keeping to the right.  This will take you back to Beverley Road.
  • Continue walking until you come to a crossing point at a roundabout.  Cross Beverley Road and Gorton Road with care and then follow the footpath back to the Leisure Centre entrance.

Lengthened Distance

  • For a little extra distance, walk to the end of Valley Drive.  Cross over West Ella Road straight onto Godmans Lane.  Continue up the path with the golf course to your right.  As you continue along the path the historic Kirk Ella church comes into view.
  • Cross Packman Lane with care.  (Information of local interest can usually be found on the church notice board.)  Keep to your left and follow the path onto Church Lane.  Cross the road again onto the pavement on your right.
  • Continue down to the bottom of Church Lane, turn right back onto Beverley Road, and continue straight on to return to the Leisure Centre.
